José Magaña
Senior Analyst and Senior Consultant

Jose Magaña is Senior Analyst and Senior Consultant with Pyramid Research. He is responsible for executing custom consulting initiatives that include due diligence, market sizing and mobile payments research projects. In addition, Jose has extensive experience in telecom market forecasting, being responsible for the tracking of several markets in the Americas. Jose also has been a moderator at leading mobile payment conferences. Some of his engagements for Pyramid include:

Before joining Pyramid Research, he acquired expertise in finance and economic research. From 2004 to 2006, he was the head trader at Banco Agricola (now BanColombia), the largest financial group in Central America. There he managed an investment portfolio worth US$500m, forecasted economic trends of some Central American economies and the US, and performed investment strategies including relative value trades and fundamental and technical analysis. Jose also worked for Banco Salvadoreno (now HSBC) as a trader and analyst, where he was involved in valuation and project analysis.

Jose holds an M.B.A./M.S.F. from Boston College, where he graduated with a Dean's Letter of Commendation in 2008. At school, Jose was an active contributor to the BC financial magazine. He holds a major in business and administration from Escuela Superior de Economia y Negocios (ESEN), El Salvador. He is a native Spanish speaker and is fluent in English and has basic French knowledge. In his free time, Jose likes to read, write and play soccer. He is based out of the company's headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
